Me, me and Mom again (2013). Review

Screenwriter, director and actor who plays the main role in the film "Me and Mom again" Guillaume Gallienne has long been known in France, but is not familiar to the Russian audience. His first original film was immediately awarded two high prizes by the cinematographic community: at the Cannes Film Festival and Cesar. In fact, this is an autobiographical story in which a fictional character has an author as his prototype. She talks about the problems of growing up and the inability to do this because of excessive commitment to her own mother. The French film is made lightly and humorously. Perhaps the most valuable thing about the film is the lack of at least some kind of morality and the desire to teach someone something. It's just a story that the author tells in order to tell and, in this case, to amuse, since "Me and Mom Again" is primarily a comedy.
Guillaume Gallienne tells his story with subtle humor, without emphasizing priorities. He is teetering on the edge, which is unique to the French. The story shows the son's passionate desire to meet his mother's expectations. He needs this approval more for himself, because his mother loves him the way he is. It's Guillaume who craves love and its manifestations every second. He's the one who suffers if he doesn't feel his mother's approval every minute. The author shows a story that transcends stereotypes and even has labels in society: a homosexual and a "mama's boy." At some points, Gallienne's story is similar in theme to the films of the Spaniard Almodovar. The film has a wonderful acting ensemble. You can watch "Me and Mom again" online on our website.
